NOTE FROM DR. BRUCE

Dear Goodwater Families:

I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and happy.  Sometimes it is hard to stay positive about the constantly changing guidance and the myriad of problems that appear to be emerging without workable solutions just weeks before the start of school. However, I am confident that our strategies will persevere and, in a few months, a new normal will emerge that will meet the majority of our needs and expectations.

Many schools around the area are experiencing a sudden spike in turnover as educators make personal and career choices.  We have experienced turnover as well. I am pleased to report recruitment has been robust, and I am excited about our new employees. They bring fresh perspectives and positive expectations to our school. I believe the blend of talented, dedicated, and seasoned educators, both those new to Goodwater and those already part of the family, will persevere through these difficult times to ensure our vision, mission, and values are met in the Montessori delivery of instruction for our families.  We will begin professional development soon to ensure all staff is ready for the beginning of school. I am confident in our future at Goodwater Montessori as we move through this pandemic with decisions balanced by both cautionary decision-making and practical solutions for health and safety of families, students, and staff. 

Goodwater Montessori School continues to adapt to provide a public Montessori education for all students in Williamson County. Our Board has been working hard to support us in this unprecedented time of education.

COMMITMENT FORMS

In order to make classroom assignments we will be asking parents to choose Remote or On Campus learning next week. Parents will be asked to select their learning model for the year for each student, but changes will be allowed each quarter.

Those Commitment Forms will go out on Tuesday, August 4th and will be due Sunday, August 9th at 8 PM.

Please look for this form in your inbox next week. It will ask a few other questions to help us serve our students as best as we can during this time. 

PARENT WEBINAR AUGUST 6th

So that parents can make the most informed choice possible at the time we are asking them to do so, we will be hosting an all-school parent webinar presentation next Thursday. Please mark your calendars for 5:30 PM on August 6th. A Zoom link will be sent out next week.

Topics will include more details on both Remote Learning and a Health and Safety Update.

MEET THE TEACHER DAYS

This year our Meet the Teacher events will be looking different. Please mark your calendars for August 17th & 18th as days when our Guides will be hosting scheduled Zooms for their new communities. In order to accommodate all families with multiple students, we do anticipate that each Community will be holding their Zooms at a different time. 

TECHNOLOGY REQUESTS

If your family will need to request a device for use during remote learning, you will be able to do so in next week’s Commitment Form. Our goal is to have these distributed by the Meet the Teacher Days.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

School supply information will be forthcoming. We know students and parents are eager for that information.

REGISTRATION DOCUMENT SUBMISSION

If you know you still have registration documents to submit, you have two options:

1. You may scan and email to [email protected]
2. Or you may bring them to the school at the following times. 

• Wednesday, August 5th from 4 PM - 6 PM
• Tuesday, August 11 from 7:30 AM - 9 AM
• Saturday, August 15 from 10 AM - 12 PM

Masks are required for visitors to enter the school building. We will allow one person in the vestibule at a time.

We will be notifying you in the coming weeks if you have documents that still need to be submitted. 

For Returning Students: Please note that we will need updated Immunizations as well as updated Proof of Residency if you moved since last summer. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].

 

IMMUNIZATIONS

All Immunization records must be up to date and submitted to [email protected] prior to August 20th, even though the school is operating remotely.

All entering 7th graders must have their updated 7th grade immunizations.

1. Td (tetanus/diphtheria) or Tdap (Tetanus/diphtheria and pertussis) 
2. Meningococcal Immunization

YEARBOOK PICKUP

Yearbooks are here!  We will have several options for you to pick up your yearbook:

• Thursday, August 6th from 1:00pm-3:00pm
• Friday, August 7th from 9am-12pm
• Friday, August 7th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

Procedure for pickup:

We will only allow one person at a time in the vestibule. The parent will stand in the designated area and the book will be placed on the table by an employee. The employee will step away and the parent will step up, pick up the yearbook and sign the sheet. The parent will then leave.  The employee will sanitize the pen and table for the next parent.

We request that parents wait outside in their vehicle until they see that the parent in the vestibule has walked out.

Estimadas familias de Goodwater:

Espero que este mensaje lo encuentre a usted y a su familia saludables y felices. A veces es difícil mantener una actitud positiva sobre los cambios constantes de guía y la gran cantidad de problemas que parecen estar surgiendo sin soluciones viables a tan sólo unas semanas antes del comienzo de la escuela. Sin embargo, confío en que nuestras estrategias perseverarán y, en unos meses, surgirá una nueva normalidad que satisfará la mayoría de nuestras necesidades y expectativas.

Muchas escuelas en el área están experimentando un aumento repentino en la rotación de personal a medida que los educadores toman decisiones personales y profesionales. También hemos experimentado esa rotación. Me complace informar que el reclutamiento ha sido sólido y estoy entusiasmado con nuestros nuevos empleados. Traen nuevas perspectivas y expectativas positivas a nuestra escuela. Creo que la combinación de educadores talentosos, dedicados y experimentados, tanto los nuevos en Goodwater como los que ya forman parte de la familia, perseverarán en estos tiempos difíciles para garantizar que nuestra visión, misión y valores se cumplan en la entrega de instrucción Montessori para nuestras familias. Pronto comenzaremos el desarrollo profesional para asegurar que todo el personal esté listo para el comienzo de la escuela. FORMULARIOS DE COMPROMISO

Con el fin de hacer tareas en el aula, les pediremos a los padres que elijan aprendizaje remoto o presencial la próxima semana. Se les pedirá a los padres que seleccionen su modelo de aprendizaje para el año para cada estudiante, pero se permitirán cambios cada trimestre.

Esos Formularios de Compromiso saldrán el martes 4 de agosto y deberá entregarse el domingo 9 de agosto a las 8 PM.

Porfavor revise su correo electrónico la próxima semana. Haremos algunas otras preguntas para ayudarnos a servir a nuestros estudiantes lo mejor que podamos durante este tiempo. 

WEBINAR PARA PADRES 6 DE AGOSTO

Para que los padres puedan tomar la decisión más informada posible en el momento en que les pedimos que lo hagan, tendremos una presentación webinar en línea para padres en toda la escuela el próximo jueves. Marque sus calendarios para las 5:30 PM del 6 de agosto. Se enviará un enlace Zoom la próxima semana.

Los temas incluirán más detalles sobre el aprendizaje remoto y una actualización de salud y seguridad.

EL DÍA PARA CONOCER AL MAESTRO

Este año, nuestros eventos para conocer al maestro serán diferentes. Marque sus calendarios para los días 17 y 18 de agosto como días en que nuestros Guías organizarán Zooms programados para sus nuevas comunidades. Para acomodar a todas las familias con varios estudiantes, anticipamos que cada comunidad llevará a cabo sus Zooms en un momento diferente. 

SOLICITUDES DE TECNOLOGÍA

Si su familia necesita solicitar un dispositivo para su uso durante el aprendizaje remoto, podrá hacerlo en el Formulario de Compromiso de la próxima semana. Nuestro objetivo es que estos sean distribuidos por los días de Conocer al Maestro.

SUMINISTROS ESCOLARES

La información sobre suministros escolares se estará proporcionando en el futuro próximo. Sabemos que los estudiantes y los padres están ansiosos por esa información.

ENVÍO DE DOCUMENTOS DE INSCRIPCIÓN

Si sabe que todavía tiene documentos de inscripción para presentar, tiene dos opciones:

1. Escanear y enviar un correo electrónico a [email protected]
2. Llévelos a la escuela en los siguientes horarios. 
   1. Miércoles 5 de agosto de 4 PM a 6 PM
   2. Martes 11 de agosto de 7:30 AM a 9 AM
   3. Sábado 15 de agosto de 10 AM a 12 PM

Se requieren máscaras para que los visitantes entren al edificio de la escuela. Permitiremos una persona en el vestíbulo a la vez.

Le notificaremos en las próximas semanas si tiene documentos que aún deben presentarse.

Para los estudiantes que regresan: Tenga en cuenta que necesitaremos vacunas actualizadas, así como comprobante de residencia actualizado si se mudó desde el verano pasado. Si tiene alguna pregunta, envíe un correo electrónico a [email protected].

INMUNIZACIONES

Todos los registros de inmunización deben estar actualizados y enviarse a [email protected] antes del 20 de agosto, a pesar de que la escuela está operando de forma remota.

Todos los estudiantes de 7º grado que ingresen deben tener sus vacunas actualizadas de 7º grado.

RECOGIDA DEL ANUARIO

¡Los anuarios (yearbooks) están aquí! Tendremos varias opciones para que recoja su anuario:

• Jueves 6 de agosto de 1:00 p.m. a 3:00 p.m.
• Viernes 7 de agosto de 9 a.m. a 12 p.m.
• Viernes 7 de agosto de 1:00 p.m. a 3:00 p.m.

Procedimiento de recogida:

Solo permitiremos una persona a la vez en el vestíbulo. El padre se parará en el área designado y el libro será colocado sobre la mesa por un empleado. El empleado se alejará y los padres recogerán el anuario y firmarán la hoja de entrega. El padre se irá. El empleado desinfectará el bolígrafo y la mesa para el próximo padre.

Solicitamos que los padres esperen afuera en su vehículo hasta que vean que el padre en el vestíbulo se ha ido.
